On alternate Mondays from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. on the East Coast, join host Mike Atleson for Point of Departure, a program focusing primarily but not exclusively on jazz that combines or is influenced by other world music traditions, including those of Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The concept is to explore how jazz musicians from other countries incorporate indigenous musical traditions and how jazz musicians in this country incorporate foreign musical traditions. WMPG is Greater Portland Community Radio, a long-established nonprofit station associated with the University of Southern Maine and broadcasting in Southern Maine on analog and digital radio at 90.9 and 104.1 FM and around the world via live internet stream at www.wmpg.org.

WMPG has jazz programming at various times during the week, including on Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. and on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00. The station focuses on alternative programming and features blues, roots, and world music, live performances, and public affairs shows.
