Aarhus Jazz Orchestra præsenterer SHAPESHIFTER at Taastrup Teater & Musikhus

For this concert, Aarhus Jazz Orchestra presents a unique opportunity to hear an extended version of the tone-setting big band Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Together with the renowned British pianist and producer Bill Laurance, known from Snarky Puppy, the orchestra has developed new music for an upcoming album release. The music is varied and tailored to the orchestra, and ranges widely within the fusion genre; from intensely orchestrated rhythmic interplay, to open atmospheric soundscapes, and is inspired by the sound of e.g. Snarky Puppy, Ben Wendel and the Brecker Brothers.

The musical ambitions have expanded the orchestra with musicians known from e.g. the up-and-coming neo-soul group Abekejser, as well as the Polish/German percussionist Bodek Janke.



Bodek Janke's unique and exceptional playing style on drums, Indian tabla and various percussion instruments has given him opportunities to collaborate with musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, Snarky Puppy, Bill Evans, Bobo Stenson, Gilad Hekselman, WDR, NDR & HR Radio big bands and many other.



Aarhus Jazz Orchestra is an award-winning Aarhusian big band that, with an open and curious approach to music, works to push the boundaries of big band music. The orchestra includes some of the best musicians on the Danish jazz scene, and they regularly garner rave reviews, just as they have won several awards at the Danish Music Awards Jazz.



SHAPESHIFTER is a fireworks display of rhythms, hard-hitting winds, synthesizers, catchy melodies and dramatic arrangements tailored in collaboration with one of today's most distinctive voices within the fusion genre.



Til denne koncert præsenterer Aarhus Jazz Orchestra en unik mulighed for at høre en udvidet version af det toneangivende big band Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Sammen med den anerkendte britiske pianist og producer Bill Laurance, kendt fra Snarky Puppy, har orkestret udviklet ny musik til en kommende albumudgivelse. Musikken er varieret og skræddersyet til orkestret, og spænder bredt inden for fusionsgenren; fra intenst orkestreret rytmisk samspil, til åbne atmosfæriske lydlandskaber, og er inspireret af lyden af bl.a. Snarky Puppy, Ben Wendel og Brecker Brothers.

Til koncerten kan man opleve Aarhus Jazz Orchestra udfolde de fælles musikalske visioner i de fremadskuende big band arrangementer, der tager udgangspunkt i kompositioner af saxofonist/komponist Michael Bladt.

De musikalske ambitioner har udvidet orkestret med musikere kendt fra bla. den fremadstormende neo-soul-gruppe Abekejser, samt den polsk/tyske percussionist Bodek Janke.

Aarhus Jazz Orchestra er et prisvindende aarhusiansk bigband, der med en åben og nysgerrig tilgang til musikken arbejder med at skubbe grænserne for bigbandmusikken. I orkestret sidder nogle af de bedste musikere på den danske jazzscene, og de høster jævnligt rosende anmeldelser, ligesom de har vundet flere priser ved Danish Music Awards Jazz.

SHAPESHIFTER er et festfyrværkeri af rytmer, hårdtslående blæsere, synthesizers, fængende melodier og dramatiske arrangementer skræddersyet i samarbejde med en af nutidens mest markant stemmer indenfor fusionsgenren.
