Afro-Colombian Rave: El Leopardo & Ghetto Kumbé (COL) at Global

It’s going to be a meeting between some of Colombias finest electronic musicians when El Leopardo and Ghetto Kumbé are bringing the rave scene of Bogotá to Global. A combo of electronic wizards and percussionists calling the public of Copenhagen to join their tropical party. Their transcendent ritual is made with a powerfull base of percussions, Caribbean house and techno beats and traditional afro Colombian rhythms.

Colombias kystlinje er kendt for sine varme og smittende rytmer spillet på overdimensionerede lydsystemer, som forener en farverig vifte af musikalske traditioner med bas- og clubmusik.

Netop sådan et lydsystem er Dani Boom fra El Leopardo den drivende kræft i, nemlig Systema Solar. Men på Global folder Dani Boom sig ud i sit nye projekt, hvor de caribiske rytmer spindes ind i en dyster og gennemslagskraftig techno.

El Leopardos hårdtslående lyduniverser får et billedeligt output i Mateo Rivianos visuelle vanvid, når han live på scenen skaber projektioner af psykedeliske mønstre i hvirvlende strømme. Gruppens tredje leopard, Pedro Ojeda (Meridian Brothers, Los Pirañas), lægger med trommer og perkussion, traditionelle colombianske rytmeforløb, ind over Dani Booms vibrerende techno.

Ghetto Kumbé er et møde mellem tre af den colombianske basmusiks største stjerner. En dødbringende kombination af lokkende bas, elektronisk rumba og afrocolombianske rytmer som cumbia, bullenrengues og chande. Desuden trækker Ghetto Kumbé veksler på en lang række vestafrikanske musiktraditioner som lambam, soli og kassa.

Alle lydene bliver komponeret og produceret af Edgardo Garcia aka El Guajiro, der blander de traditionelle rytmer med dynamisk techno og house, når han står midt på scenen omringet af to af Colombias ypperste rytmemagere.
