When trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire puts together an orchestra, it's always a big hit. His new all-star ensemble features guitarist Bill Frisell and groovy New Orleans drummer Herlin Riley.

The members of this sparkling project usually move in different circles, but Akinmusire doesn't care. He creates his own sound, always reaching for new horizons, building an organic vision that can draw from classical jazz, the avant-garde, chamber music or hip-hop.
