Æsthethics at Jazz Audition Series at Musiu

After instrument-centred explorations, we have decided to take a closer look at the evolution of jazz, from the 40’s until present day.

Post-Bop appeared as a progression from earlier bop styles. The jazz masters of those days were, of course, its originators: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Lee Morgan.
Indeed a fine time for new styles and shades, the same names were the sources of types that you could already hear at our previous encounters at Musiu - Hard Bop, Modal, Bebop, etc.

We’ll also be hearing a limited number of Free Jazz pieces in between, so be on the lookout for wild harmonies and tempos....
