The Ventress Memorial Library Cultural Series presents April in Paris – a Jazz Celebration of the City of Light. The acclaimed duo of Peter H. Bloom, flute, and Mark Leighton, guitar will transport the audience to the clubs and cafes of Paris with evocative selections like: Under Paris Skies, Parisian Thoroughfare, Afternoon in Paris, I Love Paris by Cole Porter, Watch What Happens by the late great French film composer Michel Legrand, and La Vie en Rose (the song made famous by Edith Piaf). Flutist Peter H. Bloom, praised for “exquisite melody” (JazzImprov) and “hip, jazzy flute work” (Allaboutjazz.com), has concertized in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand and is featured on 48 CDs. He has shared the stage with Sheila Jordan, Ricky Ford, Geri Allen, Charles Neville, Jaki Byard and other jazz legends, and is a veteran of the internationally renowned Aardvark Jazz Orchestra (49th season).

Mark Leighton is acclaimed as a jazz and classical guitarist, performs widely, and serves on the faculties of Colby College and St. George’s School. He served as Artistic Director of First Night Quincy for 20 years. Mark studied with noted guitarists Sharon Isbin, David Leisner and Robert Sullivan.
