BTW Jazz Combo I was just named as the top Performing Arts Magnet Small Jazz Group in America for 2015 through the Thelonious Monk Institute in Washington DC. They will tour in April 2015 for a week on the road performing at high schools for crowds up to 1,000 during the day and playing with jazz stars in the evenings at major clubs and restaurants. Only one group is named to this high honor each year.
Jazz Combo I performs annually at Tuesday Nite Jazz in the historic sanctuary of Texas Historic Landmark St. Paul United Methodist Church on the second Tuesday in January.
This year they will appear with special guest artist Jazz Combo I alum Matt Marantz of New York City. The performance will run approximately one and one half hours without a break, followed by a reception with the artists. The concert and reception are free, but Jazz Combo I always draws a crowd.
