Gene Oates entered the Seattle scene with Quarter2Blue which provided the melting pot for his unique blend of rock, jazz, blues and country guitar. A few years later after seriously studying jazz and jamming with some great Seattle jazz musicians Gene took his creative sound to Mavi, a jazz funk combo and Lexington Avenue jazz quartet. For the past ten years Gene has played regularly in two of the hottest Seattle big bands, Mach One Jazz Orchestra and Eastside Modern Jazz Orchestra rounding playing straight up 30s – 50s swing, to contemporary jazz.
