Bassist Bruce Phares was a prominent figure on the Seattle jazz scene in the 1980s as a young, eclectic bassist performing with top Seattle stars Overton Berry, Diane Schuur and others. Due to focal dystonia, a neurological condition, he retired and focused on another career for a quarter century. In and around 2016, he made a comeback that highlighted a colorful final act in Berry's career.
