Catherine Russell at Murrys

It is only appropriate to have jazz royalty represented during the silver Anniversary, right? And, so we do. We could not be happier that vocalist Catherine Russell, the daughter of Luis Russell, Louis Armstrongs musical director for a decade in the 1940s and1950s, and Carlene Ray, bassist for the International Sweethearts of Rhythm, the famed all female band from the 1930s and1940s, accepted our invitation to participate in the 25th Anniversary Celebration. She last visited us in 2014, as the special guest with Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis with her initial visit coming a number of seasons before that leading her small group at Murrys, as she will do this time around...
