In a "Tribute to Charlie Parker with Strings," acclaimed saxophonist Charlie Jennison will be streaming a live performance of his interpretations of the classic recordings using transcriptions of the original arrangements. Some of the standard tunes he will be improvising on are "Laura," "Just Friends," "East of the Sun," and "Everything Happens to Me."

At 72 years young, Charlie Jennison has been an active member of the Seacoast jazz scene since the early 1970s when he first appeared on saxophone with the Tommy Gallant trio at the Press Room. A member of both the Capital Jazz Orchestra and the Seacoast Big Band, he enjoys performing selections from the “Great American Songbook” in the intimacy of the small club and restaurant environment. Charlie also teaches saxophone and jazz piano at Phillips Exeter Academy, where he has been on the music faculty since 1990....

There is no charge for the performance, however if you would like to show your appreciation for Charlie's performance, he requests that instead of tipping him, consider making a donation of any amount to the United States–based nonprofit organization that is a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other community-based agencies.
