Charlotte County Jazz Society presents the Terumasa Hino Quintet on Monday, April 10 at 7:00 at the Gulf Theater at the Military Heritage Museum in Punta Gorda.
Trumpeter-composer Terumasa Hino is a musical dynamo revered as a jazz elder statesman in his native Japan. He worked steadily in New York starting in the mid-1970s, playing and recording in the bands of saxophonists Davie Liebman and Jackie McLean, and drummer Elvin Jones, amoung others. This high-octane, hard-bop player’s trumpet mastery reflects his range, playfulness and enthusiasm for the music.
