Chris Rottmayer: Jazz pianist
Chris Rottmayer is a doctoral candidate in Piano Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has released four albums as a leader, including his current album Being, which spent 27 weeks on the Jazzweek Jazz Albums radio airplay charts, reaching a high of #29. Peter Dominguez:
Peter Dominguez grew up in Milwaukee, and began perfoming with the Music for Youth Orchestras and his father; pianist and vocalist Frank DeMiles. Peter went on to study with Roger Ruggeri and Richard Davis at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and with Dr Lucas Drew at the University of Miami. He served as Professor of Double Bass and Jazz Studies at Michigan State University from 1984-96, and continued studies with Robert Gladstone while substituting with the Detroit Symphony. The former Principal Bass with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and the American Sinfonietta, Peter was Professor of Jazz Studies and Double Bass 1990-2020 at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He is currently Professor of Double Bass and Jazz Studies at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He continues to perform with an impressive array of Classical, Jazz, and Latin artists throughout the Americas and Europe. His teaching includes national and international classes, adjudication of international competitions, artistic direction of the Richard Davis Foundation for Young Bassist Inc annual conference in Madison Wisconsin, and the director of the Milt Hinton Institute for Studio Bass. Peterโs recordings include How About This (2010) and Groove Dreams (2017) performed on Milt Hintonโs famous 1790 bass. Wayne Salzmann: Wayne Salzmann II is a Drummer, Educator, Author, and Composer who has toured and recorded extensively with Grammy winning guitarist Eric Johnson. He has also performed/recorded with Steve Miller, Kenny Rogers, Kris Kristofferson, Christopher Cross, Bob Schneider, Joe Satriani, G3, Mike Stern, Joe Bonamassa, Robben Ford, Oz Noy, Chris Potter, Dick Oatts, Bill Watrous, Diane Schuur, Bobby Shew, UT Jazz Faculty, San Antonio Symphony, and many others.He has hundreds of recording credits, including a Billboard no. 1 Jazz record, a Billboard no. 1 Blues record, and feature film soundtracks.i
Salzmann taught at the University of Texas at Austin from 2010-2022 as the Drum Set Instructor and has given clinics and masterclasses worldwide. His book Developing Melodic Language on the Drums has received high acclaim from legendary drummers Peter Erskine, Ed Soph, Carl Allen, John Riley, and from Modern Drummer Magazine. He collaborated with the Zildjian Company to create the Zildjian Drumset Method, and his drum studio at UT-Austin was featured in Vic Firthโs Inside the Teaching Studio. His compositions and arrangements can be heard on recordings with his jazz quartet and six-piece funk band, Wayne Salzmannโs Groove Society.
