Doc Handy And The Cymonian Jazz Ensemble at Daytona State College Amphitheater

The North East Florida Jazz Association (NEFJA) is pleased to present its annual Jeep McCoy Memorial Concert from 4 – 7 PM on Saturday, September 13 at the newly remodeled Daytona State College Amphitheater in Palm Coast.

Based out of Jacksonville, Handy’s uniqueness as a conga drum musician is his captivating ability to fuse Afro-Cuban percussion with Jazz to create an infectious swing that leaves his audiences in a spell bound groove. He has played at venues throughout the US and in Europe, Korea and Panama.

The North East Florida Jazz Association was established in 1987 by Palm Coast residents Eugene “Jeep” and Muriel McCoy. Since its inception, NEFJA’s mission has been to keep Jazz alive in Northeast Florida by providing more than 100 live Jazz concerts for local audiences and by granting 65 scholarships to talented young students enrolled in a Jazz Studies program at a Florida college or university. The organization has also made it possible for 25 Flagler County high school students to participate in the prestigious University of North Florida Jazz Camp. The 2025 Jeep McCoy Memorial Concert is especially meaningful for NEFJA members and supporters. Three (3) of the performers—Champagne, Snell and Archiniu—are previous recipients of NEFJA scholarships. Additionally, NEFJA held its very first concert at the same venue more than 30 years ago years ago.
