Vocalist Christiana Drapkin celebrates the Swinging music of the 1930s, the music that your grandparents sang together in family gatherings, danced to, fallen in love to, and weathered the challenging years of the Great Depression. From Dust Bowl ballads and labor songs, to the pop tunes of the day. Music lifted the spirit, whether it was on the radio or at a Saturday night dance outing.
As part of the "One Book Maryland" Summer Read, we've put a musical program together that resonates with elements of this riveting, true story.
