Efw Presents: Bass Bridge Quartet at Ballet Arts Studio

The Bass Bridge Quartet is an acoustic improvising group of four double basses formed in the beginning of 2023 to explore the lower frequencies of improvisation. The musicians are Che Chen, Dave Hofstra, William Parker and Dave Sewelson.

William Parker is a bassist, improviser, composer, writer, and educator from New York City, heralded by The Village Voice as, “the most consistently brilliant free jazz bassist of all time.”

Bassist and tuba player David Hofstra has performed on 100s of CDs since 1980 including those by The Contortions, The Waitresses, the Microscopic Septet, and Elliott Sharp's Terraplane and is constantly active in many aspects of the New York scene.

Saxophonist, bassist, and composer Dave Sewelson is a longstanding member of New York's Downtown scene. Since the 1970s, he has been a noted collaborative partner for dozens of like-minded visionaries.
