Cellist Elisabeth Coudoux came from classical instrumental studies via Jazz to New Music and free improvisation in her search after new sounds and playing techniques. As a solo artist, exploring the instrument’s sound range is a constant broadening search for her own voice. Poetic miniatures emerge while analyzing intuitive movement patterns, noisy stories are told, and unknown soundscapes explored. She loves the challenge of
spontaneous encounters, when the cello resonates as an orchestral sound body on equal footing with the other players’ sound, the focus always shifting between individual expression and free collective energy. What needs to be negotiated is that balance between improvising idiosyncrasy and an inner musical form.

Rossy/Fossum is an improvised duo collaboration between Canadian musicians Sarah Rossy and PJ Fossum. Their work together began at Banff Centre for the Arts in 2018, and the two have since sustained a creative partnership traversing between New York City and Montreal. The duo performs a dynamic improvised set of music sourced from timbral exploration, jazz, Arabic music and experimental electronics.

Cellist Elisabeth Coudoux kom fra klassiske instrumentale studier, via jazz til ny musik og fri improvisation i hendes søgen efter nye lyde og spilleteknikker. Som solokunstner er udforskningen af instrumentets lydområde en konstant udvidelse i hendes søgen efter sin egen stemme. Poetiske miniaturebilleder opstår, mens intuitive bevægelsesmønstre analyseres, støjende historier fortælles, og ukendte lydlandskaber udforskes. Hun elsker udfordringen ved spontane møder, når celloen resonerer som en orkestral krop af lyd på lige fod med de andre musikeres lyd - fokus skifter mellem individuelt ekspressivitet og fri kollektiv energi. Det, der skal forhandles, er den balance mellem improviseret egenart og en indre musikalsk form.
