About
Ernie Hammes is a Luxembourg trumpeter who specializes in jazz and also plays classical music. Ernie is the founder director and lead trumpet in the Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra and has been a member of the Musique militaire grand-ducale (the Luxembourg Military Band) where he is lead trumpet and leader of the big band. He has played both solo and as first trumpet in the Big Bop Nouveau band, travelling to more than 25 countries while solidly supporting the Luxembourg jazz scene. He is the only European to have been a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
Recent venues have included festivals in Chicago , Calgary , Vancouver, Edmonton , New Orleans, Karlsbad (Czech Republic) and Cleveland, Ohio. He has also played in Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London and at the Montreux Jazz Festival , Den Haag, North Sea Jazz Festival and Toronto festivals. ...
