Fee Aaij Qwartet (exclusive Try-out) at Podium Doesburg

In April 2024 the young dutch pianist Fee Aaij and her Qwartet will make their debut with 'I am The Joker', a conceptual album of improvised music. The album celebrates, a sound in which modal jazz and art rock are combined, resulting into a new genre called ‘jokerjazz’. However, The Joker thinks this description lacks depth.

So, imagine:
Radiohead, J.S. Bach, Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, Brad Mehldau and, of
course, David Bowie running into each other in the middle of the night. While being lost in a big medieval castle, they sit around a long table where they start telling each other folk stories. Yet something feels off. The tales mysteriously seem to conclude the same thing; A figure, a presence, they all know, although never have met. Watching them from afar The Joker laughs silently.
