FEM BELLING features with JMQ Ensemble at The Commune Cafe Bar

ARIA-nominated jazz vocalist and violinist Fem Belling exploded onto the Melbourne jazz scene after a sojourn in London, with her exquisite, versatile voice and powerful stage presence, lending authenticity, creativity and something extra special to jazz. This South African-born artist has performed with many of the jazz greats, locally and internationally, and can be seen in Melbourne's top music venues. She has appeared at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club (London) and for HM, the Queen at the Royal Variety Show, the Australian Open Men's Final, and spent many years as a leading lady in London's West End, in Hairspray, Fame, Footloose and Cats. She has recently played Liza Minnelli opposite Todd McKenney in The Boy From Oz, and as Sarah in Devine – The Sarah Vaughan Story. A born performer and daughter of a jazz pianist, Fem throws her own spin on jazz standards and paying homage to the Jazz Greats. She showcases her passion for scatting and her sheer joy of making music, with class, sophistication and diversity.
