Since winter weather adversely affected attendance at this free annual event (a tribute to the life, music, and legacy of jazz pianist Art Porter, Sr.) at Cajun's Wharf on 7 February 2014, an encore has been scheduled at the same venue on Friday, 14 March 2014. Though there is no admission charge, jazz aficionados are encouraged to make donations in support of the educational programs/scholarships sponsored by the 501c3 nonprofit Art Porter Music Education, Inc. In 1993 the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation presented its first Lifetime Achievement Award (subsequently named in his honor) to Art Porter, Sr. (8 February 1934 - 22 July 1993). He was posthumously inducted into the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame upon its creation in 1994. His profile can be found on pp. 168-169 of the first print edition of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas Music (published in September 2013 by the Central Arkansas Library System's Butler Center for Arkansas Studies), in CALS' online Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture (www.encyclopediaofarkansas.net), and in the Hall of Fame section on the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation website (www.arjazz.org).
