An engineer by training, François Poitou worked for a time in finance before devoting himself to music. In 2012, he graduated with honors from the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL). Alongside his career as an accompanist bassist, François Poitou created a quintet whose orchestration (2 violins, guitar, saxophone, double bass), compositions, and arrangements made “of strings and refinement” bring him closer to a certain “chamber jazz.” The two albums born from this project, *Funambule* in 2017 and *Le sec et la lune* in 2019.During 2024, François Poitou composed 7 new pieces that were added to the folk covers to complete the album. Ingénieur de formation, François Poitou a travaillé un temps dans la finance avant de se consacrer à la musique. En 2012, il est diplômé avec mention du Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL). Parallèlement à sa carrière de bassiste accompagnateur, François Poitou a créé un quintette dont l’orchestration (2 violons, guitare, saxophone, contrebasse), les compositions et les arrangements faits “de cordes et de raffinement” le rapprochent d’un certain “jazz de chambre”. Les deux albums issus de ce projet, “Funambule” en 2017 et “Le sec et la lune” en 2019Au cours de l’année 2024, François Poitou a composé 7 nouvelles pièces qui ont été ajoutées aux reprises folk pour compléter l’album. Intitulé “Old Folks”.
