Harmónia Jazz Workshop: KovÁsz at Budapest Jazz Club

The aptly named KOVÁSZ blends jazz and folk music in a remarkable way. The founder, GERGŐ KOVÁTS, who plays the saxophone and other wind instruments, brings his band, which was created to meet tradition and the contemporary, to life in an inventive and imaginative approach.
Representing tradition are ÁBEL DÉNES on gardon (a traditional Hungarian stringed percussion instrument.) and double bass, and ATTILA GYÁRFÁS on drums and prepared gardon. From the contemporary side, MÁTÉ POZSÁR conjures soundscapes with synthesizers and piano.
Kovász's curious, experimental spirit infuses the music with freshness and unexpected flavors. Alongside their unconventional instrumentation, the musicians boldly explore the borderlands of genre. The result is as rich and satisfying as reimagined delicacies from days gone by....
