J.J. Johnson, one of the most influential trombone players in jazz history teamed up with another trombone legend, Kai Winding in the 1950s to form an immensely successful quintet unusually fronted by two trombones. This gave the inspiration to this brilliant crew.
The rightful Hungarian heirs to Jay and Kai are KRISZTIÁN CSAPÓ and MÁTYÁS PAPP. Krisztián is well-known to the Hungarian jazz audience as a stalwart of the Budapest Ragtime Band, the László Attila Fusion Circus and the BJC Big Band. His solo project, KRIZ drew full houses. Mátyás is co-leader of the Coquette Jazz Band that boasts an international line-up, constantly appears with and the country’s leading big bands and a previous winner of the Hungarian Jazz Federation’s Composers’ and Arrangers’ Competition....
