Led by veteran percussionist Ignacio Berroa, Afro-Cuban Jazz & Beyond presents an historical voyage through the development of one of the most influential musical movements of the past century. Blending rhythms from Africa, the Caribbean, the U.S., Afro-Cuban jazz hit the mainstream through Dizzy Gillespie, who called Berroa, “the only Latin drummer in the world of American music that intimately knows both worlds: his native Afro-Cuban music as well as jazz.”
