Felix Moseholm and Jacob Artved learned to play jazz together when they met as young teenagers in Copenhagen and immediately became close friends. Later, they each decided to move to NYC in hopes of integrating themselves and learning about jazz on its American terms.

Since then, they have both succeeded in their common goal. Jacob has played with, among others, Louis Hayes, Billy Hart, and David Wong. Meanwhile, Felix has played with Brad Mehldau, Samara Joy, and Wynton Marsalis.

Felix Moseholm and Jacob Artved learned to play jazz together when they met as young teenagers in Copenhagen and immediately became close friends. Later, they each decided to move to NYC in hopes of integrating themselves and learning about jazz on its American terms.

Every year, CPH Jazz has been the focal point where the two young Danes returned home and attempted to reintegrate all the new things they had learned during their time in NYC.

This year, in the same spirit, they have assembled a terrific new band consisting of two young musicians whom they believe are truly extraordinary: alto saxophonist Zoe Obadia and trombonist Nate Jones. Zoe's playing is deeply poetic, and her tone is unique and incredibly beautiful. Nate is full of energy, reminding one of how wonderful and exciting the trombone can be.

The new band hopes to demonstrate how, even in 2024, one can find a new, relevant, and unique voice in jazz without necessarily having to reinvent it.

Felix Moseholm og Jacob Artved lærte at spille jazz sammen, da de som unge teenager mødte hinanden i København og med det samme blev tætte venner. Senere besluttede de hver især at flytte til NYC i håb om at integrere sig og at lære om jazzen på dens amerikanske præmisser.

Sidenhen har de begge haft succes med deres fælles mål. Jacob har blandt andre spillet med Louis Hayes, Billy Hart og David Wong. Felix har derimod spillet med Brad Mehldau, Samara Joy og Wynton Marsalis.

Hvert år har CPH jazz været det knudepunkt hvor de to unge danskere vendte hjem og forsøgte at reintegrere alle de nye ting de gennem tiden i NYC har lært.

I år har de i samme ånd samlet et forrygende nyt band, bestående af to unge musikere som de mener er helt ekstraordinære. Altsaxofonist Zoe Obadia og trombonist Nate Jones. Zoe’s spil er dybt poetisk og hendes klang er unik og utrolig smuk. Nate er fuld af energi og han minder en om hvor vidunderligt og spændende et instrument trombonen er.

Det nye band håber at vise hvordan man selv i 2024 kan finde en ny, relevant og unik stemme i jazzen uden nødvendigvis at være nødt til at genopfinde den.
