Guest artists the Caravel String Trio officially formed in 2008. Having played together for years in various combinations, all three are members of the dynamic New York City-based orchestra The Knights, a group whose recent engagements have included two recordings for the Sony Classical label and performances at the Dresden Musikfestspiele. The sextet will explore the unusual textures that result from a jazz trio of trombone, piano, and drums, plus a string trio. The string trio will be treated as both an outside entity which will face off with the jazz trio, and as a pool of individuals who mesh with the trio players in varied combinations.
