Jamison Ross is a New Orleans based grammy nominated vocalist and drummer that delivers messages of humanity through the medium of jazz. His unique soulfull voice and extraordinary skills as a drummer have brought him all over the world playing with Snarky Puppy, Jon Cleary and own groups.

In 2012, Ross’ career began to take shape after winning the Thelonious Monk Jr. International Jazz Competition for his drumming. This achievement afforded him a recording contract with Concord Jazz. Jamison recounts, “at the time, people knew me as a drummer; they didn’t know I could sing. I wanted to merge my gifts.”

His 2015 debut release, Jamison, introduced the world to his concept of rhythm and melody and also garnered a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album. His sophomore release, All For One, takes listeners a level deeper into Jamison’s ethos. The album is a result of a personal revelation that "we all have the capacity to love with empathy in a deeper way."

Jamison Ross er et af årets helt store navne på Fringe Jazz Fest. Den i New Orleans bosiddende trommeslager og sanger har en sjælden sammensætning af unik soul stemme og trommespil i verdensklasse og spiller for første gang i Danmark.

Han vandt i 2012 den prestigefulde "Thelonious Monk Jr. International Jazz Competition og blev i 2015 nomineret til en amerikansk grammy for "Best Jazz Vocal Album". Siden har han tourneret verden rundt med egne grupper og bands som Snarky Puppy, Jon Cleary og diverse andre artister fra New Orleans.

Det er Jamison Ross' første koncert i Danmark med eget band og man kan virkelig se frem til funky og gåsehudsfremkaldende koncertoplevelse ud over det sædvanlige med hans egen originale musik.

Fringe Jazz Fest præsenterer under Copenhagen Jazz Festival 5.-13.juli 2019 New Orleans musik og kultur i en bred pallet, hvor publikum kan møde alt fra danske legender til nyeste fremadstormende kunstnere fra New Orleans.
