Janice Finlay is the “Rich Little” of saxophone! Yes, she also has her own evocative and sassy saxophone voice, appreciated by Canadian jazz fans for more than three decades and heard as far away as Japan, Russia and Italy on her critically-acclaimed feature CD’s, Anywhere But Here and She’s Hip. Yes, she is also a talented composer and arranger who is frequently heard playing clarinet and flute in addition to all members of the saxophone family. But for this concert, Janice plans to indulge her passion for jazz music from the mid-thirties to 1959, while authentically channelling the saxophone voices of such luminaries as Paul Desmond, Illinois Jacquet, Stan Getz and Johnny Hodges, among others. With accomplished accomplices Rick Boughton (piano), Julian Bradford (acoustic bass) and Jordy McIntyre (drums) joining Janice on stage, audiences are in for a delightful senti-, er, saximental journey!
