Jazz Award Fundraiser - Sax Blue Jazz Quartet at Adamstown Uniting Church

The Jacob Neale Jazz Awards are presented by the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music (Australia) in collaboration with the Newcastle Improvised Music Association (NIMA), Adamstown Arts and the Newcastle and Hunter Jazz Club. This annual event is supported by a broad local music community to honor Jacob and provide a platform for new and emerging musicians. The finals will be held on Saturday the 19th of July 2025 at the Harold Lobb Concert Hall, Newcastle Conservatorium between 7pm – 10pm.

The Fundraising Concert will take place at Adamstown Uniting Church (Australia) and feature the jazz sax quartet, SAX BLUE. Over a period of 32 years, Sax Blue have learnt to exploit all the sounds of the saxophone. Creamy, punchy and quirky sounds all serve in a repertoire that includes baroque and romantic arrangements, jazz standards such as American Patrol, Liza and I Got It Bad (And That Ain’t Good), special tunes like Tiger Rag, Black Bottom Stomp and Bohemian Rhapsody together with tunes such as Albinez’s Tango.
