The Nashville Jazz Workshop and the Tennessee State University Music Department present an installment in the popular "Jazz on the Move" series. Each installment of Jazz on the Move features a lecture and performance highlighting a major figure or period in jazz history. Presented by Nashville’s top jazz artist/educators, the series offers audiences world class music as well as an opportunity to learn more about jazz.

On The Jazztet:

The Jazztet was one of the most influential recording and touring jazz groups of the 1960's. Co-founded by saxophonist / composer Benny Golson and trumpeter Art Farmer, the band launched the careers of several prominent instrumentalists and produced many brilliant compositions, several of which went on to become jazz standards. The group recorded with several iterations in the 60's, and was later re-formed in the 80's for another run of international touring and six new recordings.

This year's Jazz On The Move series is presented with support from Caterpillar Financial Services, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and Peter and Anne Neff.

The program takes place at 7:00 pm in the E.T. Goins Recital Hall in the TSU Performing Arts Center, 3500 John A. Meritt Boulevard, and is free and open to the public. (Click here for a map of the TSU campus showing the location of the Performing Arts Center.)
