Roby Lakatos Gypsy Jazz Band feat. Emilio
ROBY Lakatos, known as “the devil’s Hungarian violinist”, is a world-famous violinist who has become legendary for his amazing virtuosity and the variety of musical styles he juxtaposes with effortless elegance. He is equally at home in the worlds of classical music, gypsy music, jazz, flamenco, tango, bolero and klezmer, combining his art with the greatest naturalness. He lived in Belgium for many years, then moved home, but continues to actively perform worldwide, having performed at many prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to the Vatican to London’s Albert Hall. At home, his formation called the Gypsy Jazz Band is a special highlight of Hungarian musical culture. Today, he has become one of the most authentic and prominent representatives of the jazz manouche genre created by Django Reinhardt. He will be accompanied on bass by Flór Noémi, who lives in Érd, so the local connection is also a special joy for the festival.
Emil Jellinek, known by his stage name Emilio, is one of the versatile and charismatic figures of the Hungarian music scene. He began his career as a drummer, but it soon became clear that he also has exceptional talent as a singer. He knows no genre boundaries: he is equally at home in the worlds of pop, soul, R&B, jazz and rap, while enriching his unique style with beatboxing techniques.
At the age of 16, he played with legends such as Béla Szakcsi Lakatos and Gyula Babos, and later appeared on Attila László's album Bábel.
