Alexi Tuomarila Trio saw daylight in 2004 and their debut album Constellation was released on Norwegian Jazzaway Records the following year. The trio was touring intensely back then in Norway, Finland and the Benelux countries. Tuomarila's, among other trio members, career took a flight then and the cosmopolite band leader claimed reputation and awards in piano competitions in Monaco, Granada, Avignon and Brussels. The Observer magazine picked Tuomarila among six jazz musicians to keep an ear on in the future.
The release of their second album took eight years, due to musicians being extremely occupied with their other projects. Tuomarila and Louhivuori had their hands full in Tomasz Stanko's band and Eilertsen in Tord Gustavsen's trio. Also the musicians own projects like Louhivuori's acclaimed Oddarrang and Mats Eilertsen Quartet took time from the trio work. Still the artists met on stage from time to time in pairs or all together, and in 2012 it was time for a new rise of the "future stars". Alexi Tuomarila made a three-album contract with the British Edition Records, who also represent Oddarrang among other familiar names to us Finns. Now the trio returns to Finland to play new material in ten concerts. This is the best chance to sneak-peak some of the secret tracks that will probably find their way to their next album.

Alexi Tuomarila Trio sai alkunsa vuonna 2004 ja ensimmäinen levy Constellation julkaistiin norjalaiselle Jazzaway Records -yhtiölle 2005. Tällöin trio kiersi tiiviisti Norjassa, Benelux-maissa ja Suomessa. Tuomarilan, kuten muidenkin yhtyeen jäsenten, urat ponnahtivat samaan aikaan huikeaan nousuun ja kosmopoliitti yhtyeenjohtaja palkittiin pianokilpailuissa muun muassa Monacossa, Granadassa, Avignonissa sekä Brysselissä. The Observer –lehti valitsi myös Tuomarilan kuuden tulevaisuuden jazznimien joukkoon.
Toista levyä saatiin odottaa kahdeksan vuotta. Tuomarila ja Louhivuori olivat täysityöllistettyjä Tomasz Stankon yhtyeessä ja Eilertsen Tord Gustavsenin triossa. Myös jäsenten lukuisat omat projektit kuten Louhivuoren Oddarrang sekä Mats Eilertsen Quintet, veivät bändin jäseniä yhteen ja erilleen vuosien ajan. Vuonna 2012 Alexi Tuomarila solmi kolmen levyn sopimuksen brittiläisen Edition Records levy-yhtiön kanssa ja ensimmäinen levyistä, Seven Hills, julkaistiin maailmanlaajuisesti vuonna 2013. Vuosia kestäneen musiikillisen ystävyyden ja muusikoiden oman, persoonallisen äänen vahvistumisen myötä trio soi täynnä tunnetta ja tasapainoista yhteistyötä.
Alexi Tuomarila Trio kertoo lämminhenkisiä, melankolisiakin tarinoita jäsentensä sävellyksien muodossa. Melodia, rytmi ja yhtenäinen soiton hallinta tekevät sisällöstä nautittavaa kuunneltavaa. Kiertueella yhtye esittää uutta, julkaisematonta materiaalia.
