Ainutlaatuinen, tuttu ja tuntematon Ajaton-kvartetti luo neliulotteista musiikkia, joka hajottaa määritelmät menneiden aikojen tomuksi; yhtyeessä eri aikakausia ja tyylejä edustavat muusikot harvinaisine instrumentteineen sovittautuvat yhteen. Kvartetti kuten myös sen ohjelmisto on kokoelma poikkeuksia, jossa improvisoidut maisemat, kansanmusiikilliset säkeet, keskiaikaiset luuttulaulut sekä alkuperäissävellykset virtaavat ainutlaatuisena synteesinä.
Yhtye koostuu omaäänisistä ja arvostetuista taiteilijoista kansanmusiikin, jazzin ja klassisen musiikin saralta: laulaja Mia Simanaisen johtamassa kvartetissa soittavat Henrik Sandås (bandoneon), Mikko Perkola (viola da gamba) ja Kari Ikonen (moog-syntetisaattori). Vuonna 2013 toimintansa aloittaneen yhtyeen perustana on tyyli- ja muotoseikkojen sijaan taiteilijoiden luonteen- ja pyrkimysten laatu.
