About

Keziah Jones emerged in the '90s, delivering an uppercut of funk embodied by incredible energy and influences marked by Fela Kuti, Prince and the “six strings” of Jimmy Hendrix. For French audiences, Jones has become a big brother, an uncle from Lagos, coming to charm us with his jukebox of world music selections. His first album, Blufunk is a fact! came out in 1983, and Rhythm is love, his first single, became his anthem, taking him to some of the most beautiful stages of the moment, and to some beautiful airplays! The year 2024 heralds his long-awaited return, plunging us into the nostalgia of his Rhythm is Love and a desire to dance to the rhythm of his timeless BluFunk. Get your dancing shoes ready, because on July 11, our Palais Lonchamp will be vibrating to the sound of a Keziah Jones who's ready to take the dancefloor by storm!José James has more than 12 albums to his credit, all of which have won rave reviews from a motley crew of fans, from jazz to hip-hop. And so it should be! James has always modernized, innovated and broken codes, while paying tribute to classics such as Billie Holiday and John Coltrane, and contemporaries like Erykah Badu. In 2023, he dedicated an album to her entitled On & On. In 2024, the other Kid from Minneapolis returned with 1978, a highly personal album featuring his loves and revolts in words. Produced on his own Rainbow Blonde Records label, José has just unveiled, 38th and Chicago, which refers to the crossroads in José James' hometown of Minneapolis, where George Floyd was tragically murdered in 2020. - “It's close,” explains James, “too close. I grew up a few blocks away and played my first concert on the street, in Powderhorn Park. I've walked past this store a million times, it could have been me.”Like the Cherry family, the McFerrins fall into the category of great dynasties of musical artists. Between Taylor, the eldest brother, who mixes Jazz and Hip Hop solo or in a group with R+R=NOW alongside Robert Glasper, the grandfather, an opera singer at Mette, and the master of the siblings, Bobby McFerrin, Madison has waited her turn. Forged in the school of the underground, she has blended the best family ingredients and has been churning out beautiful EPs and albums since 2016. The latest from 2023 features the excellent (Please Don't) Leave Me Now, a restorative track she wrote after a car accident. Madison McFerrin's enchanting pop'n'soul will “voluptuous” the night at Palais Longchamp and the family stars, like benevolent guardian angels, will shine with a thousand and one lights...
