Noted violinist Kit Eakle adds Miles Black to his project presenting the music by and in the spirit of two of the most creative and unique voices in jazz, Thelonious SPHERE Monk and Django Reinhardt.

Kit Eakle has performed on his violin sharing the stage with a widely diverse array of musicians from Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee to Larry Vuckovich, from Dan Hicks to Howard Alden, and from Joe Craven to John R. Burr.

Eakle will be joined by one of Vancouver's finest pianists and multi-instrumentalists, Miles Black will bring his full array of instrumental virtuosity on not only piano, but guitar, bass, various horns etc., in creating a unique instrumental experience to enhance the amazingly personal and expressive range of Mr. Eakle's violin....

This concert is one part of a 3 part series of concerts featuring the the role of the violin in jazz and its expressive possibilities in a piano duo format. Other concerts on Oct. 1 feature violinist Blaine Dunaway and Miles Black, piano and on Dec. 3, the great Regina Carter and pianist Kenny Barron.
