Maria Bertel Is a danish trombone player, improviser and composer. The acoustic sound of her instrument amplified creates an output that draws inspiration from drone and noise music. What is normally not hearable is presenting itself, movements, metal and breath becomes a swirling part of her compositions. Changing organic patterns are emerging, tiny sounds become brutally clear as well as the range of overtones of the instrument.
She is one of five co-founders of the Copenhagen based art collective eget vĂŚrelse founded in 2010.
Apart from her work as a solo artist she performs and composes in groups like the notorious four piece noise rock band Selvhenter and Nina Garcia & Maria Bertel duo improvised noise outfit

Three musical siblings from Copenhagen underground unites as Køs to show their common love for big expressive emotions and smaller, almost naked sounds. Acoustic instruments meets digital sampling and analog proccessing live on stage.
Since 2014 they've joined forces to showcase their forward looking mixture of free improvisation, jazz, hip hop, classical music, ambient and noise. Soundscapes constructed in the now with long form development, blissful(almost religious) melodies, repetive rhytmic structures, huge walls of sound and ever-changing dynamic fluctuations.
In may 2017 the debut EP âKĂSâ came out as free download/stream via: bandkoes.bandcamp.com featuring strictly acoustic instruments in a non-strict environment. Since then, they have made waves in the danish experimental music scene with their full length An Uncaught Bird from 2020, elegantly merging free improvisation and electronic ambient music, as well as the collaborative effort Ud af en Mund with danish poet Pia Tafdrup, released on Barefoot Records in 2021.

Lao Dans kompositioner er en kulturel bro, der har inviteret publikum over hele verden til at opleve hans harmoniske dialog mellem tradition og modernitet. Som en global ambassadør for kinesisk kulturarv transcenderer hans optrÌdener grÌnser, büde musikalske og geografiske. Maria Bertel er en dansk trombonist, improvisator og komponist. Hendes lyd er karakteriseret ved ekstrem forstĂŚrkning af hendes instrument, inspireret af drone og noise musik. Trombonen, som en forlĂŚngelse af Bertel, forstĂŚrkes sĂĽ hele dens fysik og alle de smĂĽ detaljer bringes i spil. BevĂŚgelse, ĂĽndedrĂŚt, resonerende og raslende messing skaber kaleidoskopiske detaljer i de ellers minimalistiske kompositioner. SĂĽledes gentĂŚnkes trombonen, og de normalt underspillede karakteristika ved instrumentet fĂĽr centrale roller i musikken, normaltvist smĂĽ lyde fremstĂĽr overvĂŚldende og brutale og instrumentets overtoner synger for fuld kraft.
Maria Bertel er en af fem medstiftere af det københavnsbaserede kunstnerkollektiv Eget VÌrelse, som blev etableret i 2010.
Foruden hendes arbejde som soligt, optrĂŚder og arbejder hun ogsĂĽ med noise-rock kvartetten Selvhenter samt et duo-projekt med den franske guitarist Nina Garcia.

Tre musikalske søskende forener som Køs deres kÌrlighed til büde storladenhed og skrøbelighed i en søgen efter intense nye lydlandskaber.
Den unge trio har det seneste ĂĽr fĂĽet stor opmĂŚrksomhed herhjemme for sin helt sĂŚregne lyd hvor fri improvisation er kernen. I et elektroakustisk univers blandes, bøjes og manipuleres lyden af saxofon og trommer, som fĂĽr instrumenterne til bĂĽde at smelte sammen, skille sig ud, eller danne helt nye og ukendte klange. Nogle gange minder musikken om et pop-hit â andre gange lyder den som ambient elektronisk musik â eller en dyne af 40 saxofoner.
Gruppen, som har spillet sammen siden 2014, kendes fra sĂĽ vidt forskellige bands som; Cactus, Josiah Konder, SlĂĽr SkĂĽr og Merdh Laleh. De har som trio samarbejdet med bl.a. saxofonisterne Lars Greve, Lotte Anker, samt digter Pia Tafdrup. Køs befinder sig i et univers med langstrakte udviklinger, smukke melodier, repetitive rytmiske strukturer, brede klangflader og store dynamiske udsving. De skaber musik hvor rejsen er det spĂŚndende â og nĂŚrvĂŚr og udsagn er essentielt.
