Grammy-award winning saxophonist and composer Joe Lovano brings his unique style and sound to Lawrence University. Lovano, whose influences include John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie, actively seeks for new modes of artistic expression and ways to define the jazz idiom. With his quartet, Lovano explores the rich history of jazz through swing and bebop. A proponent of straight-ahead jazz, Lovano drives the edges with avant-garde jazz while still honoring the standard jazz structure.
