Marques Carroll is an innovative young trumpeter and a rising star in the Chicago jazz scene. His ensemble pays tribute to some of the great trumpeters in jazz (referred to as BAM, or Black American Music), and includes their arrangements of works by Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Nicholas Payton, Lee Morgan, Clark Terry, and Freddie Hubbard as well as original pieces by the band members. The intriguing lineup of rhythm section (piano, bass, drums) plus three trumpets gives plenty of opportunity for both tight ensemble playing and soaring solo work.
