Your teacher: Brazilian saxophonist and composer Michel Nirenberg is on his third U.S. tour. A rising star and busy performer on both continents, his high charting 2015 debut album, "Portrait," was met with critical acclaim. Said venerated critic Raul da Gama of Latin Jazz Network, “Here is a player who uses virtuosity not for self-aggrandizement but to glorify the music.” Dan Bilawsky of All About Jazz said, "In terms of style, substance, and execution, Nirenberg ranks high. This is some brilliant Brazilian jazz.” Nirenberg is on a mission to share the wealth of Brazilian musical styles with audiences and students, and he is an able ambassador.
