Mathias Sandberg has been called "one of Finland's best kept secrets". The highly acclaimed guitarist and composer Mathias Sandberg is one of the hardest working jazz musicians in the country. He has studied at Manhattan School of Music in New York and Berklee College of Music in Boston and worked with artists such as Georg Riedel, Pierre Swärd, Peter Asplund, Nick Mancini, Jukka Eskola, Teppo Mäkynen and Manuel Dunkel. Sandberg plays a hundred or so concerts a year and has toured both Europe and the United States.
Mathias Sandberg's debut solo album The Doctor (2020) has received both huge critical review and airplay on jazz radio stations in Europe, United States, South America, Asia and Australia. Sandberg's highly anticipated new trio album The Captain was released in March 2023, followed by a 50-date nationwide tour. Jazzkitaristi ja säveltäjä Mathias Sandberg, jota amerikkalaisessa musiikkilehdessä Jazziz Magazine on kutsuttu "yhdeksi Suomen parhaiten varjelluista salaisuuksista", kuuluu maamme aktiivisimpiin jazzmuusikoihin. Hän on opiskellut New Yorkin Manhattan School of Musicissa ja Bostonin Berklee College of Musicissa, ja työskennellyt mm. Mathias Sandbergin debyytti-soololevy The Doctor (2020) on saanut ylistäviä arvosteluja molemmilla puolilla Atlanttia ja sitä on soitettu ahkerasti jazzradiokanavilla. Sandbergin pitkään odotettu uusi triolevy The Captain julkaistiin maaliskuussa 2023, ja yhtye lähtee 50 konsertin levynjulkaisukiertueelle Helsingistä Rovaniemelle. Konserteissa kuullaan trion omalaatuista "hard swingin', groovy & soulful jazz"- sekoitusta vahvoilla melodioilla, rytmisesti leikkisää improvisaatiota ja lähes telepaattista yhteissoittoa.
