Known for his imaginative music drawing on American themes and culture, guest composer Michael Daugherty is featured in a program that includes his works Firecracker and Steamboat. Additional pieces include Dani’s Dance by Paul Dooley and Migration by Shuying Li, offering an evening of varied contemporary styles and marking the culmination of Daugherty’s residency at MSU—highlighting his music and that of two former students, Dooley and Li.
