That is, melancholic blues music from the port city where Magda Mendes was born and who has since found a new home port in Rotterdam. In 2015 on tour with her Silêncio-project she performed in fifty small venues, transforming each and every evening into an intimate fado café. Mendes’ latest album, dedicated to her father António Oliveira, exchanged the city for the countryside and gave voice to tales never told before that prove to be just as strongly rooted as the olive trees in her native region.
