Omar Alcaide at Fira B! at Teatre Xesc Forteza

EQUXTORIAL was born in Equatorial Guinea, where Omar's paternal family comes from, the Alcaide (called prison bosses). Since he was little, he is inspired by African and Afro-American culture, nourishing himself with music, painting, cultural knowledge and respect for Afro culture.

Throughout his short career (he is only 20 years old) he took this inspiration that has accompanied him from the cradle, to create this concept, collecting all the fruits that music and black culture have left as the main form of expression to shape to what will be his first solo album.

From the pure Guinean tribal rhythm mixed with a collection of poems by Justo Bolekia, to the purest traditional jazz of the 60s to the hip-hop and neo-soul that characterizes the 90s and 00s so much. Omar seeks to mix old with modern, carnal with mental and energy with moving the skeleton, mixing the relics of black music and transporting them to 2021, where it seems that the world is upside down and the racism and injustices of the world are daily by our side....

On this record, Omar chooses to call in all kinds of collaborations, and take the record from a producer, songwriter, and lead guitarist perspective, although there are songs in which he sings. Beside him, Juan Arance, helps to produce and put the main voice in most of the pieces that make up this album. He has collaborations such as Juanito Makandé, a flying soul; DORA, young promise, daughter of Bimba Bosé; Bubby Lewis, bassist for Snoop Dogg or Stevie Wonder, and Aqeelion, a rapper from Los Angeles, who has shared the stage with Erykah Badu or Dr. Dre in the 90s and currently resides in Mallorca.
