"Almadraba" inspired me after a conversation with my father about his excursion with Andalusian fishermen. I wrote this suite, especially after remarkable images of their tradition convinced me that it would translate into an extraordinary piece of music. To make possible the recording of Oscar Peñas’ “ Almadraba” that captures the essence of the eponymous millenarian ritual of fishing, we ask your support through a donation of $25.00 or more at Fracture Atlas. Your contribution will give melody and heightened awareness to one of the oldest sustainable fishing traditions known to man.

“Almadraba” will not only provide Peñas with an opportunity to work and share experiences with a world-renowned classical ensemble for first time, but it will also raise the awareness of an environmentally friendly trap-fishing method, which is one of the oldest in the world that has not changed since its inception.
