The aim of this tribute is not only to celebrate the life and work of the maestro, but also to show how this local and traditional music transcends borders. It has been conceived as a great celebration that highlights the synergistic coexistence of flamenco with other styles such as jazz, classical music or African music, thus promoting once again the cultural richness of Spain and its most international music.

The festival will begin in February in New York and will include concerts in various formats, master classes and cultural events.

This city profoundly transformed Paco, with events that marked his life and musical evolution. One of these was his now legendary meeting with Sabicas, one of the pillars of flamenco guitar, who, by encouraging that 16-year-old boy to play his own music, planted the seed of a composer flourish in Paco de Lucía.

New York never ceased to attract Paco, with memorable moments such as his first solo recital at Carnegie Hall in the early 70s. His contact with musicians and artists who, like him, were seeking the cultural vibrancy of the city, led him to discover musical trends as diverse as jazz, bossanova and salsa.

On this occasion, more than 30 artists from different backgrounds and both sides of the Atlantic will come together to celebrate Paco for 4 days. The heart of this great city will beat to the rhythm of flamenco.

The Paco de Lucía Legacy Festival is an initiative promoted by the Paco de Lucía Foundation in collaboration with the various participating venues, sponsored by the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport of the Government of Andalucía, co-financed with European funds and presented by Serious Fan Music.
