JazzBoston coordinates “(Re)Building a Vibrant Boston-Area Jazz Community Post-Pandemic”: a virtual panel discussion and town meeting, held via zoom.
The meeting will bring together panelists who represent the various aspects that constitute the community; musicians, audiences, venues/presenters, and the media – in order to brainstorm, to seek a path forward, and to advise the new leadership of JazzBoston on how it can be most helpful to the community.
The meeting will begin with welcoming words from the Dean of Boston Jazz Radio, JazzBoston Board member Eric Jackson. Julia Ryan, Artist Resource Manager, Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture, City of Boston.
Following the panel presentations, there will be time allocated for JazzBoston leadership to hear attendees’ questions and comments regarding the role of JazzBoston within the shared jazz community. To conclude the event, there will be an online live performance by acclaimed pianist, composer, and educator Kevin Harris
Attendance is free. JazzBoston welcomes questions and comments, preferably submitted in advance via email to [email protected]. (Attendees can also submit during the meeting using the chat.) The intention is to answer as many questions and take as many comments and suggestions as possible within the time allotted for the meeting.
This meeting initiates a new phase in JazzBoston’s ongoing community-building mission. An all-volunteer non-profit organization, JazzBoston connects, promotes, and advocates for the musicians, audiences, and venues of Greater Boston’s dynamic and diverse jazz community. JazzBoston spreads the music and the message of jazz and celebrates Boston as one of the world’s great jazz cities. JazzBoston intends to help make a difference!
