Featuring Richard Patterson (Miles Davis) and Cecy Santana The Lotus Kings are truly a labor of love for Deacon Blues founder Steven Kikoen. When Steven was twelve years of age he befriended a new classmate who had just moved to the Chicago area from Madrid. This new studentâs name was Guy Raymond Jeanes. On his first day of school, Guy showed up in a sport jacket, complete with shirt and tie. The guys in the class didnât get it. The girls dug it. When Steven approached Guy to begin a friendly conversation, it didnât take long for him to discover that he and Guy shared many similar interests; the most significant being their shared passion for guitar playing. A lifelong friendship was born. Fast forward a year. While Steven was deep into The Beatles, B.B. King, The Who, and Eric Clapton, Guy proceeded to turn him on to Carlos Santana ââ when Guyâs oldest sister brought home a Santana album. Within minutes the course of Stevenâs path in musical awareness changed dramatically. There was such a connection to the sound, the sustain, and the phrasing of Carlosâ work, not to mention the innovative joining of Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms with rock, funk, and later, jazz. Now, a quantum leap later and after the success of Deacon Productionsâ first two âAll-Starâ Bands (Deacon Blues: The All-Star GrammyÂŽ Tribute to Steely Dan and BIG SUIT: The All-Star Tribute To Talking Heads), Steven has returned to his earliest roots and rediscovered Carlos, not unlike what Clive Davis did for Maestro Santana back in 1999 with Supernatural. Taking a cue from Clive Davis, Stevenâs aim was to surround himself with the best of the best from the Chicago area with regard to musicians who have an absolute passion for all things Santana. Hailing from Sao Paulo, CECY SANTANA grew up in a musical family headed by her father, legendary Afro-Brazilian trumpeter Carlos Santana, who is known for his collaborations with Roberto Carlos, Gal Costa, and also played first trumpet for the Sao Paulo and Rio Symphony Orchestras. As a young musical prodigy, CECY excelled in flute and voice, and often performed in various church concerts and ministries. Her desire for musical superiority led her to the United States, and she landed in Chicago, Illinois with a dream to succeed. Since her arrival in The United States, CECY SANTANA has worked in many musical genres such as house, dance, jam band, Brazilian Popular Music, traditional Brazilian music, and R & B. Her music has been featured in various conventions such as The Winter Music Conference in Miami, as well as in commercials and other forms of advertisements. As a performer she has guest appeared with bands such as the New Orleans powerhouse Galactic, and has opened up for mainstream recording artists such as Fantasia Barrino, Carl Thomas, Roy Ayers, Musiq Soulchild & Lil Wayne. Currently, CECY is preparing to officially release her debut solo project titled âSkyline." She is also running CECY SANTANA PRODUCTIONS, which focuses on the complete diaspora of Latin-American entertainment production.
