Held in the auditorium of the Little Rock School District's Central High (a National Historic Site), this is the only ticketed event and indoor concert for the 2017 Arkansas Jazz Festival (Thursday, 20 April - Saturday, 22 April) presented by Arkansas Jazz Educators. Jazz Central Big Band II will perform during the half-hour before the program begins; Jazz Central Big Band I will open the program at 7 p.m. Renowned trombonist Scott Whitfield (scottwhitfield.com) will be featured with the University of Arkansas at Monticello's Jazz Band I (directed by Gary Meggs). SPECIAL NOTE: There is no admission fee for the festival's outdoor concerts to be held on Friday, 21 April (approximately 3:30-9:30pm) and Saturday, 22 April (approximately 8:30am-6pm) at Little Rock's Riverfront Amphitheater and at/near Dardanelle's Front Street Gazebo. Those concerts (scheduled each hour at both sites) feature dozens of jazz bands from colleges, high schools, and junior high/middle schools. Scott Whitfield will perform with UAM's jazz band on Friday (5:30pm) in Dardanelle and on Saturday (12pm) in Little Rock.
