A concert of champions! In November 2016, Sointi Jazz Orchestra and Jyväskylä Big Band were crowned joint champions in the big band Finnish championship contest. Both of the winners will be heard in a concert for the first time, as Sointi Jazz Orchestra's Finnish tour makes a stop in Jyväskylä on April 22.

Prepare yourself for cinematic sounds, well-honed arrangements and skilful improvisation - a meandering musical journey that will leave no one cold. 
Founded by young freelance musicians in 2013, Sointi Jazz Orchestra has become known for interesting one-off concerts where the music has been carefully tailored for the performers. The group has collaborated with the likes of saxophonist Juhani Aaltonen, Helsinki Student Theatre, singer Stina Koistinen and saxophonist Jukka Perko, and their big band version of the classic Christmas play Star Boys has delighted hundreds of listeners in the past three years it has been staged.

Mestareiden konsertti! Marraskuisessa big bandien suomenmestaruuskilpailussa Sointi Jazz Orchestra ja Jyväskylä Big Band sijoittuivat jaetulle ensimmäiselle sijalle. Näitä vuoden 2016 voittajia voi kuulla ensimmäistä kertaa samassa konsertissa, kun Sointi Jazz Orchestran kiertue pysähtyy Jyväskylään lauantaina 22.4.!
Illan aloittaa JBB omalla setillään, jonka jälkeen SJO jatkaa kiertueohjelmistollaan. Sointi Jazz Orchestran ohjelmisto koostuu viime vuosien mielenkiintoisimmaksi big band -levyksi tituleeratun debyyttialbumi Syntymän (2016) kappaleista sekä Rasmus Soinin täysin uusista kiertuetta varten säveltämistä teoksista. Luvassa on elokuvallisia soundeja, hiottuja sovituksia sekä taidokkaita improvisaatioita – polveileva musiikkitarina, joka ei jätä varmasti ketään kylmäksi.
Nuorten freelancemuusikoiden syksyllä 2013 perustama Sointi Jazz Orchestra on tullut vuosien mittaan yleisölle tutuksi yllätyksellisistä ja intensiivisistä konserttikokonaisuuksista, joiden musiikki on aina kulloisellekin esiintyjäjoukolle räätälöityä. Yhtye on tehnyt yhteistyötä mm. legendaarisen saksofonisti-huilisti Juhani Aaltosen, Helsingin Ylioppilasteatterin, laulaja Stina Koistisen sekä saksofonisti Jukka Perkon kanssa. Lisäksi yhtyeen versio perinteisestä Tiernapojat-kuvaelmasta on ilahduttanut satoja kuulijoita jo kolmena vuonna.
